My initial purpose in setting up this channel was to share rare examples of New York sports radio through the decades in my collection. The sports talk shows of WFAN from its earlier years (1988-2003) are featured and also earlier examples of New York sports radio such as John Sterling's talk show on WMCA in the 1970s. Rare news radio coverage of historic events such as September 11, 2001 are also be featured from time to time as well.
This channel has since then branched out to include other areas of interest to me and it is my intention to try and keep posting things from these different areas in order to maintain appeal to all subscribers who came originally for one reason and not another. NY sports items will still be of importance along with news material, but I will also be posting things related to the areas of (1) classic game shows (2) auto racing and (3) Disney park attractions.

-The Yankees had their backs to the wall after losing the first two games of the 2001 ALDS to the Oakland A's at home. Then in Game 3, Mike Mussina pitched a gem of a game and was saved thanks to a series turnaround play by Derek Jeter that helped establish his credentials as a Yankee immortal. John Sterling and Michael Kay with the call on WABC with complete postgame (rough sounding because th...
July 18, 1999-David Cone Perfect Game (WABC Radio)

Since it's the 25th anniversary today, here are John Sterling and Michael Kay with the call of David Cone's perfect game. Sorry that this isn't the best sounding recording (and it doesn't have the Berra Day ceremonies) but I felt it was important to put up. I've included at the end a previously uploaded item of Suzyn Waldman's "Yankee Report" the next day on WFAN's late morning show with Russ S...

-I've taken this video originally uploaded here ruclips.net/video/zgQeDO3W-zU/видео.html on the WDW4K channel (give it and his channel a thumbs up!) and substituted the 1986-1994 narration by Walter Cronkite, which for many people my age who remember EPCOT in the old days was the definitive version of the attraction. Since most of the visuals for the first part of the ride are unchanged it was ...

1964 New York World's Fair: Ford Magic Skyway
Просмотров 219Месяц назад
One of the most famous attractions at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair was the "Ford Magic Skyway" presented by Walt Disney as visitors rode Ford Mustangs on a journey back into the prehistoric past and into the future. Unlike other Disney attractions at the Fair, the Magic Skyway would not be duplicated at Disneyland or Disney World, though one dinosaur scene became part of the Disneyland Rai...

-On January 13, 1977, Peter Finch appeared as a guest on the Tonight Show, riding high his new fame for his role in "Network" as newscaster Howard Beale, who made the phrase "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!" famous. The next day, Finch died suddenly of a heart attack. That night in the final segment of the Tonight Show, Johnny mentioned Finch's death and gave condolences t...

-A few years ago I posted a portion of this showing the start of the race synched to the IMS Radio broadcast. I was unable to utilize the rest of it to get a good synch with the radio. I am now putting up the complete 22 minute kinescope in its original French because unfortunately this represents the totality of what we're going to be able to see of the ABC telecast footage at anytime in the f...

-Another auto racing upload as the Indy 500 draws near. Continuing with some radio broadcasts from the first year of the Indy Racing League in 1996. This is the New Hampshire 200 race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Since the IRL ran an abbreviated three race first season that was meant to conclude at the Indy 500, this was the first race of what became the 1996-97 season (though the decision ...

The last episode of the great ABC daytime game show "Split Second" hosted by Tom Kennedy which ran from 1972-1975, noted for its fast-moving game play and end of show suspense on whether or not the winning contestant successfully picked the car that would start in the bonus round. -This last episo...

great memories!
I remember this one! I also remember an attraction that was a round room with bars coming out of the floor. Guests stood and watched a screen. I think it was supposed to be like it was flying. It was a trip from 1978, when I was only 3 years old. My mom was complaining that it was boring and I sat on the floor. Does anyone know what that attraction would have been?
You're probably recalling "Mission To Mars" which ran from 1975 to 1993. People sat in a circular room and watched video screens on the floor, ceiling and sides simulating a flight to Mars. That would be this attraction. ruclips.net/video/XX9h2YmUvE0/видео.html
You were always in trouble as a ball club when you went into Seattle, this is the reason why.
It's my life😂❤
My name is Leonard Chesser. #1 is my brother, Darryl and #3 is my other brother, Darryl.
This gives me chills
Thank you for showcasing this! I’ve always wanted to hear the Scully call of the Yankees victory.
0:22 Who’s William Tell?
2:47:50 is the greatest moment in baseball history. I remember that this was heard on WBZ-AM in Boston, MA at 1030 back in 1996 and I had it on a cassette that goes back a long time ago when WBZ-AM was a 50 KW station, and I lived in Staatsburg, NY at the time where WBZ-AM was picked up at night.
2:22:50 is where the celebration begins. I remember watching the Yankees winning the World Series on TV and we loved it! This brings back some memories.

One of my all-time favorite Indy "500" Mile Races of all I have followed since as early as 1962 when I was feww months short of being 12 years old. The '72 event should have been the late Indy Car/U.S.A.C. (United States Auto Club - sanctioning the Indy Champ Cars as well as other racing events since the mid 1950's) Sprint Car driver Gary Bettenhausen's victory. Gary, won a few of the other Indy Car events in his years of racing yet...he knew as well as many other true Indy Car fans of many years, Gary B. had his best success in '72. As with many other Indy Car drivers of past...the late, talented driver, Mike Mosley of Oklahoma, had, I think, three years in a row hit the outside near fourth turn area at I.M.S. ! Californian driver, the late Jerry Grant...what a drive he made to almost win the '72 Indy "500"! All in all...race car owner, the great Rodger Penske, had claimed his first Indy "500" victory with the talented Mark Donahue.
We all came here just to hear Michael Kay put a "See ya!" on Boone's HR
I always wondered what this ride was like. Thank you for sharing this!
0:33 Is one of the few reasons we have instant replay...
They used their hands in the winners circle back then.
This had to be classiest show ever seen on tv, The 3 men always wore tuxedos and the 2 women evening gowns.
Who was that, that sang the national anthem?
Ed Figeroa first PR born pitcher to win 20 games in a season 🇵🇷
Love the Charlie joining in at the end....and Mariano Rivera filled with joy exhaustion....etched in time....my uncle got his the next year...rIP uncle Bill....your patience paid off in 2004
The supposedly equalized spec cars of today don't race this close.
Jim Palmer was a longwinded, blathering bore as an announcer.Outstanding and historically underrated pitcher - possibly the greatest AL pitcher not to win 300 games . Not flashy but incredibly consistent. Horrible 'color commentator' though . He rarely lost his cool as a pitcher. But the same issue kills him as a commentator. Instead of focusing on the Brett vs Hunter 2nd at bat and noting how focused and intense Brett looked - he just keeps rambling about pitch techniques and styles. That would have been fine for pre game but blew the moment. Palmer never had any feel for the emotional part of the game. Again it shows why he was hard to unnerve as a player - but I have no idea why networks wanted him as an announcer
Let's go Yankees!
That was excellent!
SPEECHLESS.
Awesome video!! Thanks so much! These guys were legendary.
Narrator: They went 5 and 1 in their final 6 games.
memories of being an 11 year old just beginning to follow sports. Glad I chose to be a yankee fan
One of the greatest games I ever watched... almost missed the school bus next morning
15:45 on...Tammy Grimes😊 Larry Kert❤
Well, my favorite Benny quote on his radio show is "hmmm"
Jack died on the 24th of December 1974 and George Burns replaced Jack in the "Sunshine Boys." Jack was number 1 in radio.
By 2008 this Yankee Stadium wasn't good enough anymore September 21 was the last game Mariano Rivera fittingly got the final save
4:08:59 WILD PITCH 4:10:54 BILL BUCKNER'S ERROR
Long post = And just like the Mayhem in Detroit, the drama in this game also happened with one team being ahead by alot of points in the final minute of the game, on a hard foul. If youre the coach of both teams, just take the starting players out of the game, since this is usually when the drama happens Luckily, Knicks fans did not get involved in the drama like the Pistons fans did, with the biggest exception that in this Knicks-Nuggets brawl it was the players that went into the stands unprovoked by the fans, while in the Detroit one the fans provoked it. Can you imagine if in this Knicks-Nuggets brawl, one of the players attacks accidentally hit an elderly person or a little kid? As for the Nuggets, just like it happened to the Pacers, nothing worse than for a postseason team with championship aspirations to get their season ruined by suspensions. And to make matters worse for the Nuggets, their season got ruined against a non-conference opponent, who was also bad overall (Knicks went 33-49 in the 2006-2007 season). At least the Pacers-Detroit one, they were conference opponents and both were expected to be elite teams before the mayhem, and they were bitter rivals mainly because of their Eastern Conference finals matchup back in May-June 2004. Nuggets won only 45 games in 2006-2007 and got the 6-seed, and had to face the eventual champions Spurs in the first round. The irony of it all is that most Nuggets players, especially key players, in this brawl would become Knicks players years later in a trade.
1:33 I like how the Knicks announcers are talking about how Melo had problems in the past, but that now hes a changed man........... And then moments later, hes a major part of the brawl and got suspended for tons of games. Anthony just went in for a cheap-shot when everything was starting to calm down, and then he just ran into the locker room. OMG
39:08 borat? Is that you?
Your the man jack
0:50 If Garry Moore was still alive, those 3 girls would have SEXUAL harassment lawsuits against him. He couldn't keep his hands off the one on the left.

Eight million stories in the Naked City, this has bee one of them. Joe Louis Arena was my Polo Grounds ( as was Tiger Stadium)
As a 10 year old I cried when that game ended. Wanted Willie and the Giants to win.
Strange, the Clean Water Act was passed in 1972 and this was filmed in 1970, but one contestant said the act was passed.
What a baby...
Great Play! Some of the dialogue is a bit dated for nowadays. I played Felix in our own theatre company some years ago. Loved the role so much. I was somewhat type-cast as was the guy who played Oscar. A lot of work, but worth every minute. We had sell out houses for 9 performances. We even held over for three more. Such fun!!!
Hard to believe that it's been 45 years already. This past Friday. RIP Captain Thurman.⚾
No ticket and no line. My brother and I would ride it over and over. Plus air conditioning!
Ralph Houk got away with murder by leaving Ralph Terry in to face Willie McCovey. McCovey hit a gigantic home run off Terry in the Giants' 2-0 second game victory.
